Thanks to you – yes, you – Comic Relief is giving poor and vulnerable people the chance to turn their lives around. So we wanted to tell you what a difference you’re helping to make.

With your support, one of the major problems we’re trying to tackle is malaria – a disease which takes the life of a child in Africa every 30 seconds.

We’re currently spending over £8 million to stop people dying from this deadly disease.

Your cash is supporting projects that distribute mosquito nets to protect millions of people from contracting malaria while they sleep. They’re also training health workers so they can spot the symptoms quickly, provide the correct drugs and urgently save lives.

Sadly, in the last few weeks, flash floods in Northern Kenya have caused havoc for vulnerable communities and there’s now a big risk of a malaria epidemic causing even more devastation.

But your cash is already helping in this emergency. It’s working to prevent a fatal malaria outbreak and keep families safe.

Believe it or not, plans for Red Nose Day 2011 are already in full swing – and boy, have we got some treats in store for you. So save the date – Friday 18 March 2011 – because it’ll be a day to remember when the whole nation gets to Do Something Funny for Money.

There are a staggering 72 million children around the world who can’t go to school – and, quite frankly, we think that’s got to change.

We believe that every child should have the chance to go to school so we’re backing a new campaign called 1GOAL.

Amidst the World Cup fever, which is spreading across the globe, 1GOAL is bringing together footballers, celebrities and world leaders to draw attention of the plight of these kids who need an education.
